Hailing from Southern California, fitness is her forte. From tee-ball to competitive softball after high school, she has been an athlete her whole life and continues to search for ways to challenge her body.
Before finding the Lagree Method in 2015, she was a committed gym rat, with her focus on body building and body-weight HIIT training. Body building led to an increased awareness of anatomy, muscle isolation, and proper form. Nicole now holds certifications in Pilates, TRX, and Megaformer/ LaGree Fitness Method. Her knowledge of the body and body mechanics is substantial, and ever growing. Anyone from seasoned athletes to complete newbies will appreciate this trainer’s hardcore yet nurturing approach.
Marc is a former competitive body builder and stand out high school wrestler. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Nutrition Counseling. Marc is a Certified Physical Education Teacher for grades K-12 in New Jersey and Certified High School Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the International Youth Conditioning Association. He is also a Certified Personal Trainer and Performance Enhancement Specialist with The National Academy of Sports Medicine. He is an advanced practitioner of Animal Flow.
Marc was a three-time all conference first team wrestler, placing in the county tournament three consecutive years. He became team captain his sophomore year of high school as well as the school’s first District Champion his junior year. During his senior year, Marc was chosen for The Catholic Advocate all-state first team by high school and college coaches statewide.
When he’s not working with clients to achieve their health and wellness goals, Adam can be found teaching at Kean University, where he is a professor in their Global Fitness and Wellness Program. He co-designed the concept and practice of Critical Mass Training Systems, employing innovative coaching and training strategies. His expertise in Motor Learning and Control form the basis for his cutting-edge preventive and corrective exercise program.
Adam also attended Kean University, where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Adult Fitness and a Masters Degree in Exercise Science. He is a Certified USA Weightlifting (USAW) instructor, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and a highly sought after Russian Kettlebell expert.
With over 10 years of experience in the industry – combined with his wide-ranging expertise – Adam is an asset for clients from all walks of life.
Jon Kalnas graduated from Monmouth University with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology with a focus on child development. While in school, he earned All-American honors in track and field three times and was the first at the university to do so.
As a sports performance coach, he uses his expertise to create programs for track and field and Olympic lifting athletes and is certified through USA Weightlifting (USAW). Over the last 6 years, Jon has helped athletes find homes at Maryland University, Penn State, Wake Forest, Auburn and Georgia with over $1 million in scholarships.
Since 1995, Jon has been ranked in the top 30 in the country at the USA Track and Field Championships. His personal bests are finishing fourth indoors and eighth outdoors. As a competitive athlete, he’s also pursued long snapping at the NFL level with Gary Zauner, a 13 year NFL Special Teams Coordinator.
Ken has been a trainer at Critical Mass Training Systems since 2015. Ken grew up competing in a variety of sports, including baseball at the high school and college level. His love for competition would soon evolve into a love of coaching, as he began coaching youth baseball camps every summer through high school and college and beyond. He applies these experiences to his coaching to this day, believing that strength training should be treated like a skill in any other sport– with patience, good form, and lots of practice!
Ken graduated from the College of New Jersey in 2012 with a B.A. in Communication Studies, and is a Certified fitness Trainer through World Instructor Training Schools. He currently trains for strength and competes in power-lifting events. His favorite part of coaching at Critical Mass is helping build confidence in his clients and seeing that “A-ha” moment when they learn a new movement or achieve a personal best. Ken currently teaches strength classes, HIIT classes, and one-on -one sessions and is an advanced practitioner of the Steel Mace.
Richard “RJ” Bohnert CSCS, USA-W1 is a personal trainer / sports performance coach. He graduated from West Chester University, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s Degree of Exercise Science. There he was able to work with the University’s basketball and softball team.
Following graduation, he continued his education by receiving certifications from USA Weightlifting as a USA-W1 instructor as well as a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) as per the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA). With over 700 hours of intern hours plus continuing education, his knowledge ranges from Adult fitness, athletic performance at the collegiate level, and developing the youth athlete. In his spare time, he still enjoys playing sports by competing in baseball and softball leagues as well as taking up the game of golf.
Fred has been an avid fitness enthusiast since 19 years old . He joined the Elizabeth NJ Fire Dept in 2004 and continued to advance his physical training as a priority to be a “tactical athlete ” . Always looking to optimize his performance for his career.
He started his personal training by just helping with diets and workouts for his family and friends and fellow firefighters looking to be in better shape. Fred’s passion for fitness continued to grow as he found he was able to help people. this led to him owning a cardio kick boxing gym for a year, which he decided to sell… “Owning a gym took me away from what I liked to do which is work with people and connect.” Fred finally showed up at Critical Mass in the beginning of 2019 to hire Ken Potis as his personal trainer. It didn’t take long for Fred to discover the steel mace and turn it into his personal challenge to learn it inside and out. “The Steel Mace will be huge in a few more years and I want to teach it.”
